the hair, or the glow?

since i met rands in 2001, i have decided to keep my hair long (at least shoulder length) because he said he liked it better that way (naks!). everyone from my high school knows that i don’t have the best hair (i was actually “least manageable hair” in the yearbook, can you believe they put things like this there?!?!) so it was sort of a tough 6 years for me because I was never really vain in terms of my personal appearance… since i didn’t want too much fuss either, most of the time i tied my hair in a ponytail, and sometime in 2006 i availed of a free rebond session in the hair school managed by a classmate in up graduate school (it was in silky-straight and soft tiptop wash-and-wear condition for at least 8 months!)

then we learned about the “good news.” :) i thought that since i wanted (or actually had) less time to attend to my personal concerns (including physical appearance again) and focus most of my attention on the pregnancy, i decided to cut my hair super short (gasp!) for the first time since college circa 1997. good thing rands agreed with the welcome change.

all the people at work who saw my new do were very surprised (i would bet!). many of them were like “bagay sayo,” “bumata ka,” “lumiwanag ang mukha mo.” i’m flattered and happy that people like it as much as i’m comfortable with it. but one of the best remarks i got was “gumanda ka na.” (di ko alam kung matatawa ako o maiinsulto! hahaha), but i just decided to think of it as a compliment.

in the midst of all these nice words, i also read in some books that at this month, a woman is supposedly “feeling and looking beautiful” because she has the so-called “glow of pregnancy.” even my mom sees me off almost every morning with “ang ganda naman ng anak ko.” (of course that doesn’t count because she is my mom, but thanks anyway mommy!)

now i wonder… is it really the hair, or is it the “glow”? hmmmm, maybe i just cut my hair at the perfect time…
